A great leap many students will have to take in their lives is the transition from school to college. New friends, new schedule, basically a whole new way of life they will have to learn to adapt to.

This can be extremely challenging or the easiest thing in the world. The school you come from and what kind of personality you have does have quite an impact on how you deal with this change.
Yet, all of us could use some tips and tricks when it comes to dealing with their new lifestyle. After experiencing the quick turn in my schedules and having to get rid of many of the things that made me feel comfortable in my life, I sure am glad many fellow friends and siblings gave me these tips to deal with the transition. I wanted to share this advice with you guys in case any of you could benefit from it. Here are the best tips to stay on top of your classes, your homework, tests and taking care of yourself as you do it.

Write Down Dates, Keep Them in your Face

Many of us have a lot more to deal with once we get into college. This means an inhumane amount of homework, tests, sometimes rent, bills and so on so forth. Now, although the brain is a trustworthy utensil to remember all the things you have to do, it never hurts to keep the dates written down. Don't just write them though; make sure you see them every day until you have completed the task. It is way too easy to forget about an essay when you have so many things to do so keeping it as a constant reminder helps lots. It does not matter where you keep it either, just make sure you see it and you can't ignore it for long. I normally keep it on the main screen on my phone since I look at it so much.

Work Hard, Play Later

I am a gamer, I watch anime, I play sports, I like doing a lot of things that consume time. This creates quite the dilemma when I have to manage my time correctly and prioritize my homework. This is hard, I won't lie, but it is a necessary step to take. I do agree that every now and then breaks are absolutely necessary but excelling in classes and doing the homework to its fullest extent requires a lot of time. Trust me when I say this though, the importance you give to your classes will be worth it. This does not mean to stop from doing what you like, just perhaps do a bits less than what you usually do and it turn focus on the material for the next class. Also try to keep procrastinating to a minimum so you don't have to cut out certain things out of your day.

Eat, Drink, And Sleep

Many of us are weighed down by the amount of work that college brings with it, sometimes forgetting to take good care of our bodies in the sense of diet, exercise and rest. Sometimes we will even cut out meals entirely from our schedule, most predominantly, breakfast. Way too many students rush out the door and neglect the importance that breakfast really has. The base of our energy and healthy metabolism, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and many of us, I included, choose to ignore it quite a lot. This should not be the case. I know managing different schedules and classes cause for shortage of time but our health and body are deserving of the number one spot on our list of importance. Sleep and drinking water should also be something we keep in mind at all times. 8 hours of sleep and 8 bottles of water are my perfect recipe for a nurtured body and mind.

Have Friends, Make Connections and just Explore all you can

College, as many people have of course told you, is a place filled with unique minds and vast opportunities. You are going to meet a lot of people with different opinions, insights, way of thinking, living, eating, walking and feeling peace with everything around them. Best advice when coming in contact with them? Let yourself learn. They are a fountain of diversity with a whole world that you know nothing of so imagine how much they could teach you of their reality. That is why my suggestion is to keep an open mind and see what they have to say. I won't lie, there are some dark bulbs in the large group, but even those have their story and reason to be the way that they are.

Realize there is more waiting for you

College is a big step, and I mean BIIG. This does not stop it from being a pedestal to bigger opportunities. The real advantages, choices, changes, they are yet to come. Having a family, getting a job, trying out new things, learning more about yourself each day, it all comes slow and steady. College is just an added step to reaching other things. It could help a lot, a little or not at all. It all really depends on you and how you want to take the opportunities present.

If you do what you expect to do all will be O...K..! but if you go on the side of the really check on this next video, then it might not be as successful as you would want it to be.

There are many unexpected twists and turns in life that we have yet to experience. The only thing we can really have for sure in our existence is our desires and what we want to achieve in this mad sinusoidal wave. Pursuing a career, attempting to grow and outdo yourself through college, it is an excellent and healthy step that many of us can enjoy. We just have to make sure to enjoy it in a safe and positive way. Enjoy the little and big things, walk with a spring in your step and expect more coming along the way because at least in my experience, there is always more.
